Hi to every one, I really dont know how to play a file .wav or aiff, the objects that I have been trying are, [oggread~] and [readsf~].

this is what the machine tells me with readsf

thanks for the answer, but in this examples also arent clear for me, because the aif file that I'm trying to use, now is played in pd, but with a lot of distortion, is not recognizable.
Do you have any idea,
this happened in both examples with readsf and with soundfiler.
I really dont have any idea, but maybe is the way that I have been writing the massage box for finding the files...

It sounds like a little/big endian thing. So if it was created on a ppc mac and your trying to open it on an intel then you'll get garbled nonsense. This is one of the reasons i started to use wav in Pd (also because you can't do 32bit float with aiff)

It was created on a mac intel, and running in it, the patch, the aif file dont remember, so the problem is that I'm using a aif file?

Do I need to reconfigure my mac's sound target? but how

And boonier, you recommend to use wav always?

well it seems to be the industry standard these days - just had less problems in the past with pd

But there is way to play aif fliles or is just imposible, now I can play wav files.

No its not impossible to play aif files.

What bit depth is the aif file? If its saved as 32 bit then it won't work. Check the help file for [soundfiler]

Also I'm wondering whether the header might be corrupted somehow.

Radiostarkiller, I'm using your tabread4~ example to play a wav file that's about 12 minutes long and although it seems like it has located the file, an error appears that says 'resize failed'.

How can I resolve this?

I've tried playing the audio file in a slightly different way (see attached file). It's loading and playing the whole thing, but it's about double the speed it should be.

Basically I'm trying to play the 12min track without any alterations, then develop the patch so that data from a kinect will control some parameters of its playback (like speed, eq and reverb).

Should I be using [tabplay~] instead of [tabread4~], or is there a more suitable object you could recommend?

try the pd-double release, if you want to get arround the 32bit-float-can't-adress-more-than-6/12-min-tabread4~-problem. Works fine here - macbook pro osx 10.6.8
