is there any other possibilty to build guis for pd than gripd? something, where you can use your own animated targa files for knobs, sliders and toggles (with knobman e.g.) or something like this?

Gripd is nice but lately, unsupported (and does not work on OSX).
Another possibility is to interface Pd with Processing (via OSC) and use the graphical capability of it.
Have a look at the very good work of Raul Diaz Poblete, he did a very nice interface for a
Roland TR-909 emulation in Pd: http://rauldiazpoblete.com (under projects/interactive).Alberto

Processing? I never heard about that... but it seems, it's yet another language to learn... :-S
thank you for the hint! -

Yep
Go here and have a look, you'll sure be amazed ...
Anyway, it supports the Open Sound Control protocol, so it's "easy" to exchange data between the two apps..Alberto

haha, that's for sure the most comprehensible explanation of object oriented programming i have ever read......

i think i have to get deeper into processing.... -

This looks promising. I think they use this in calf and specimen, but i'm not shure. But it's definitly a good reason to learn pyGTK.

WOW! Looks Promising indeed! I can't wait to see some docs, though.
