Ok... sometimes clicky stuff is intentional and cool, but once in a while my computer starts spitting out random clicks during playback of an audio loop. I am looking at my load meter and it is averaging around 30 - 33 percent. (by the way, is that a lot?)

Sometimes I will also have an issue where it makes kind of a buzzing sound every time I move the mouse. Buzzing = lots of little clicks rapid fire as the cursor moves.

I don't have any other programs running, and I think I already tried messing with my audio input delay (which I can usually have set as low as 11msec without it deteriorating).

I guess maybe I have a lot of extra GUI stuff which could be slowing me down. Just wondering if there are any standard click removal techniques or tips. What kind of GUI stuff takes the most power to have on screen?

any gui stuff is going to slow your patch down. really, pd is SO inefficient at gui, i can't even imagine another environment that could possibly be worse. my commodore 16 was faster than pd's gui.

i think the basic rule is to avoid anything that causes the gui to change. sliders, bangs, radios, number boxes. they're all pretty bad. i think i read somewhere, that when they change, pd redraws the entire window, or something crazy inefficient like that. maybe that was just arrays, but for sure, the gui stuff is really inefficient.

a buffer size of just 11ms is going to also give you the clicks i think. i'd make it longer if possible.

yeah... 11msec was the smallest I could get it before the audio in signal turns to absolute garbage. It's actually surprising how different it sounds going from 11 to 10.

As far as GUI stuff goes... well, my sequencer patch would probably make most Pd users roll their eyes at how much stuff I have in there. I guess I could cut out a lot of it, but it pretty much all serves a purpose in terms of displaying useful information.
