HAs anyone used this? I'm trying to find a replacement text field for [symbol\

This seems to work quite nicely except when you hit return to output what you have entered, it wraps onto another line. I just want it on a single line, no wrap...

any ideas?

i was just thinking you could make your own as an abstraction.

have a bang on the left hand side, and then use [keyname] to enter the symbols into [makefilename] feeding back into itself with a [set $1%s( message.

finally, [key] - [sel 10] would give you the 'enter' key (i think it is key #10 ?), which would bang to complete the symbol.

Hardoff, this seems like a pretty genius solution. I was wondering if you could maybe elaborate on some more workarounds to get it really working. For example, pressing the spacebar adds the word "Space" to the composite [makefilename] message. How would you set it up so it's actually a " "?

hmm, looks tricky in vanilla pd.

[makefilename] help doc says that there is no way to incorporate spaces.

[list2symbol] in zexy defaults to having a space as a delimiter. so, maybe it would be possible to use that to good effect.

(or, there is always the good old underscore _ instead of a space.)

erm what does this do that [symbol\ doesn't? I'm misunderstanding i think!

the initial problem was a result of me being particularly lazy I basically was cursing having to re-type a string if i typed it wrong, and symbol doesn't have an insertion cursor and the basic editing abilities of [entry]

However the time I've taken to come to this point, I could have retyped the string 1000 times over!

Well, just to show how lazy we all are, [entry]'s help patch has a solution to your problem in the upper left section. ;-p
