Cheap Expression Pedals
hey ho.

if you control pd with a sewing machine pedal i think that would be pretty awesome. hooking one up to an arduino might be the way to go.
btw...kind of related:

How about game-controller pedals?
edit: after all, they'd be plug'n'play with a computer, unlike the sewing machine versions.
funny how i completely forgot about game controller pedals.
Thing is, I already have an 'arduino' in the form of an xBox controller so I'm just hoping a cheap sewing pedal, soldered on to the board, where the right trigger would go, will work.
Well, I guess i'll just have to let you know...
p.s. st00pid picture hardoff, your such a n00b.

Broken wah pedals, or anything with a potentiometer in it can be rewired for use as a voltage divider. Anything with any micro with an ADC would do, Arduino would be pleasant. If you can figure out the pinout of your xbox controller, I 'm sure that'll work as well. I just bought two ancient broken wah pedals from ebay... They are way chunkier than that plastic crap these days.
Hey, you know what would be even cooler? Hooking up a sewing machine to an Arduino and making generative clothing with Pd.

you'd need to wire it into the stick controls, i think the others are just on/off.
although i do know that on later ps2 controllers the x button atleast had variable voltages.
a joystick might be a better application though, you can find usb joysticks for cheap and that a bunch of those kind of controls.

I definitely get 256 values from the triggers of my xbox controller and the sticks give an amazing 65535 steps each axis.
ichabod, you are a true artist!

that is a lot.
this is why we need to ditch midi.
