This was the third movement, an interpretation of water between freezing and melting, performed at the Denver Botanic Gardens. The projector was all gem, with a minimal amount of camera/projection interaction in this movement. The music was reactor/max/pd.

This is kind of a test project, editing the footage with cinelerra.

the 2nd movement used nestor's game of life, I'll post clips of that soon.

Apologies about the video quality, the footage has been recompressed in different codecs so many times it's a wonder this any non artifacts at all.

maybe check that file and upload it again. it's only 430 kb and properties tells me it's html, not mpg.

the other videos on your site work well though. the cherrytree with clouds one was great, but i kept waiting for the process to be reversed and the tree dissolve back into the ether.

just out of curiosity, what interface was used for the interactive part? Does the movement of the dancer influence the audio/visuals in any way? looks nice btw, with the projection and the dancer and that glowing thingie.

the dancer had the gloworb in one hand (a repurposed hamsterball) and a wireless accelerometer in the other. The orb failed at optic recognition, I was hoping to get it to recognize when using only red and green visuals. No dice.

The accelerometer is coded to work like a one instrument conductor baton. It generates midi notes emulating a big marimba in front of you. left notes are lower, right are higher. Bang down hard for loud, soft for quiet. Couple other gestures it recognizes. Eventually it's going to be an actual baton- time signatures, tempo, articulation can be controlled remotely.

I'm thinking about integrating a wiimote, but it's a loaner so we'll have to see!

I wish I could see more of what's going on in the video, but I like it, especially the dancing and the way the music gets at the end.
