Well, I have an audio signal in my audio input #1

I want to do 2 different things:

1. Use a Vslider to regulate from -oodb to 0db (Exactly the maximum input level)

2. Use a Vslider to regulate from -oodb to +6db (6dbs more than maximum input level)

Is the object *~ the best election?
What values I need to set in Vslider?

Can I measure gain using env~? What extra caution I must take?

yes, [*~ ] is what you should use.

you can right click on a vslider to get its properties. by default, it is set to a linear output, but if you click on "lin" you can change it to a log output.

for (1) maybe a range of 0.01 to 1 will be ok.

for (2) something more like 0.01 to 10 might be better.

not exactly dB scaled, but similar.

If is not dB scaled... can I use some formule to calculate approximately values in dBs?

Using env~ can I translate values to dBs?

[dbtorms] should do the trick I think.
