Hi im building a delay patch with a few adjustable delays so that it can emulate the old tape heads and can be put slightly out of time but i was wondering how do I get a low pass filter's cut off to sweep down at the same rate as my feedbacks? So as the signal is fedback into the delay the top frequencies are rolled off.

Any help would be much appreciated

For filtering there are a lot of objects, some popular ones are [lop~] [hip~] [bp~] [vcf~] and [moog~], but there are many others.

So you want the filter cutoff to have the opposite value as the feedback. The simplest solution is to have e.g. a slider which you read out normally and linearly inversed. Linear might not be the best option for what you're trying to do, but other can probably tell you more about that.

One good practice is to have sliders always going from 0..1 and scaling their values according to what you want them to do, unless there tightly coupled to 1 parameter.

Actually Domien, i think what he wants is gradual reduction of the high frequencies.

In the same way the feedback setting will gradually decrease the level of a signal as it gets passed through multiple times.

The [lop~] object as far as i know, isnt the best at removing the frequencies it should.
Which is why a few in series will have more effect.

Perhaps just having one in the feedback loop will work?

Otherwise I'd suggest a chain of multiple delays? each with further reduction in frequency?

Thanks for the inverting signal information that is going to be useful. I was hoping to have the cut off to a lop~ reduce as the signal in my feedback decays is there any way I could do that?

[env~] can help you there.

but remember that naturally the lop~ will reduce more and more high frequencies, because it will filter the signal again and again each time it goes through the delay loop.

I just came on to say I've worked out a way using env~ cheers, It's kind of clunky the way I'm doing it I should come up with some better maths but for now I have

The signal from the feedback loop going into the left input of lop~
and another feed to an env~ where by it is * by itself and then into the right inlet cutoff lop~
This seems to be working nicely
I'll post the patch if anyone wants but it's not much further than the last post heh.
