The PD Load meter always shows around or over 100 cpu load even when I have no patches open (windows 11 task manager shows 10% cpu load)

Also, when I try to close PD it takes a while to close and sometimes I have to force quit.

The odd thing is that, despite all this, patches do seem to run fine. But it would be nice to be able to know if I'm pushing PD's cpu limits or not. Here's a screenshot of the load meter and my audio settings:

[cputime]'s help file says it doesn't work on W98, though I remember it working fine on Windows 8 / 10 before...

@s.elliot.perez As close to 100% as I can get that it is the asio audio driver not connecting well.
I don't know the audiobox driver..... whether it tells you anything useful.

Asio4All will tell you if pins are idle (Pd has not connected to them) or the data is unusable for some reason...... so maybe worth a try. The latest version is win10/11 capable only, which suggests there have been some very substantial changes in the OS.

Be careful with the Asio4All site at the moment..... it seems to be a mess of misleading advertising links rather like a lot of download sites.

Also check that you have an Audiobox ASIO driver that can work with win 11, although if you use Asio4All it will bypass the audiobox driver.

Once you get it working you should be able to get the Delay(msecs) in Pd down to 2 or 3 msecs and still have stable (and low latency) audio.

I've actually used Asio4All before with this same setup and had some issues of noise and not being able to connect without restarting/replugging, Though these were ntermittent problems.

As for just using the AudioBox driver, I've downloaded the latest version of Universal Control from here and still experiencing the issue. Maybe this is just a PreSonus problem and not a PD one... It says here that the AudioBox iTwo should be supported, so no idea...

@s.elliot.perez Always hard to analyse.
The audiobox driver is reporting the pins to the OS...... or you would not have the option to connect in the Pd audiosettings.
I would try asio4all just to see what it tells you..... it might help with diagnosis and you can remove it from your system easily afterwards if you will not use it.
You can turn on/off inputs and outputs in asio4all..... so you can see whether it is talking correctly to your computers soundcard and so eliminate parts of the chain as a problem.

It's not clear how many ins and outs the audiobox actually has....... headphones etc.
Try increasing the channel count in Pd audiosettings....... say 10 for both ins and outs.
Pd will then connect to any existing pins and ignore the missing ones.
That might help.

Check for errors in device manager.
Uninstall old drivers completely before installing the latest..... all sorts of unhelpful stuff can litter the registry.
Try installing the drivers from your hard drive in Windows "test mode".
Try "compatibility mode" for them...... Windows 10 or 8.1 etc.
