Hi all,

Im very new to Pure Data and I am really enjoying it.

I built a patch to play random midi notes, sent out to an external synth.

The patch was working as it should

when I tried the patch again it does not work no midi is sent to the external synth.

But when I use the "test Audio and MIDI" help patch the midi is been sent and works fine

I have not changed the patch.

is this a bug?

Please upload the patch to this thread....... we cannot say what might be wrong without seeing it.
But maybe you are not sending either velocity or duration for the midi notes when the patch is re-opened?

Sorry for the late reply.
I’ve been working away.
This is the patch.
It works when I create this patch from new. But doesn’t work when I save and reload it.
All my midi settings are the same and the example midi test in the help works.

I’m using a Raspberry Pi with puredata extended installed.

@Dog-Voodoo That is strange because the midi test is working.
You will need to click the 100 and 1000 messages before you start sending in notes or they will all be velocity 0 and duration 0.

Otherwise if the notes will always be the same duration and velocity then you could use one of these......
The example on the right is better.

Or you can send messages like [52 100 1000( or [66 127 2000( into [makenote] to get different velocity and duration.
