I get that I can make (for example) a symbol appear on top of a canvas by cutting the symbol and then pressing undo. But I would like my patch to appear correct on loading and not have to do this each time I load the patch. Is there a way to set canvasses to be behind other objects?

Making a canvas appear behind other objects on loading.

Ah in case anybody else cares, I figured out you can just open the patch as a text file and change the order of the objects that way. Objects defined earlier go behind objects defined later.

@nuromantix Cut & paste makes an old object new (on top).
Also maybe see the label property of canvas...

cutting, pasting or re-ordering the *.pd file with a text editor will probably mess up the connection order and may even prevent the file opening

@Balwyn Cutting & pasting the objects in the patch works though. It does also cut the wires...
-
@ingox I was warning about the act of editing the pure data file in a text editor
