It's strange, that I can play some .wav files with pd and some not.
The error message is:

dsp: Car_Sounds/2_mazada.wav: unknown or bad header format

How to fix the problem to play this soundfile anyway?

@RayManiac How do the headers differ (examine with a binary file viewer)? Have you tried soundfiler's -raw mode to skip over the header?

No, I haven't tried soundfiler -raw mode yet. I have no idea how the header differs.

Edit: No, Soundfiler's raw mode doesn't work.

@RayManiac upload the file and I'll give a look. Or open with a sound editor and resave as Microsoft wav (maybe it's Broadcast Wav?)

@jameslo Sorry, I fixed the link of the old file with about 35 kb. This is the wav file which you can't play in Pd.
The converted file works, but it has a size about 570 kb.

@RayManiac Ah, OK, the version that does not load is 8 bit @ 11025 sample rate. I don't know if [soundfiler] can load that format, but I don't see any mention of 8 bit in the help file.

Ah, that could be the reason why the files worked after the conversion.
I converted the wav files with https://online-audio-converter.com/ .
