pix_record ?

in fact, pix_record works well ... only if you play video (pix_film) in the gemwin
it doesn't work with text2d for example
...

seems that you can use [pix_snap] and then [pix_record]

in fact, it writes a black QT (with pix_snap & pix_write)
strange!
(I connect text2d outlet to pix_snap inlet and pix_snap outlet to pix_write inlet)
if you have more ideas ...

why dont you use a screen capture video application?
xvidcap works for me perfect getting a .mov file on Linux
