Hi all, I am operating a Pd 0.43.4-extended version into a macOS Mojave 10.14.6 64-bit . I tried to plug NanoKONTROL2 KORG following this patch & instructions https://github.com/martin-leo/pure-data-korg-nanokontrol-2 fixed the broken links to the abstractions, but the entry signals from the NK2 Korg are not recognized, only the potentiometers (and not accurately), but no slider nor buttons..
I wonder if any other had the same issue and succesfully solved, or if any clue about 64-bit or Pd version being the potential issue...
Ps: My Nk2 is detected and works on MaxMSP7, so I guess the Nk2 nor port comm are the issue...

NanoKONTROL2 KORG on Pd 0.43.4-extended & MacOS 10.14.6 64-bit
-
Hi David!
Thank you very much for your helpful insight.1 -"[pd nK2] is any data arriving for the sliders and buttons?" Yes, there is data only from the potentiometers and not accurate, if I turn slowly I get sudden changes like 127 - then 62 - then 2.
2 -"Maybe that is not the case for 10.14.6 if you have extended (32-bit only) running?" I can do run other patches and even the ones which serial communicate with my Arduino, etc.. but I am blocked with this one (I also upgraded MacOS almost at the same time as starting this tryouts.. that's why I am suspicious of this)
3 -"a factory reset would help" I am not familiar with this term, would this imply to send my KORG physically or more like restart or reinstall PD software?
4 - Very pretty, and maybe still valid....... nano2.pd Thank! it is super neat, I tried it, however there is data communication but I have the same data-wise issue as in point 1..
Thank you very much again for your feedback though,
Any other controller that gets on well with Pd? Also, I wonder if there is any specific version that works better with this kind of controllers.
Kind regards
-
@hybridoa I was thinking maybe a factory reset of the NanoKontrol, or a reset of whatever its driver might have changed for its setup.
If the data is not arriving into Pd the problem is elsewhere I think.
The Data "jumping" I have seen elsewhere on this forum and others....... along with some other Midi weirdness from the NanoKontrol2.
For other Midi controllers it really depends what you want to do. For DAW or lighting console work the BCF2000 is a good cheap option, because it can be more accurate (NRPN) and has motorised faders....... but midi controller setup is far more complex than it first seems and can be a steep learning curve unless the software you are using has built in templates for its setup.
Sysex is difficult in Pd....... anything can be done of course...... and because we are building very bespoke systems from scratch there really is very little plug'n'play available.

@whale-av thank you ver much David!
The controller is for midi, I will keep on searching for further patches, I hope I am lucky

Hi again,
By any chance would this be a related issue?

@hybridoa I don't know for sure but I don't think so.
Anyway, you might be able to fix the library error....... https://forum.pdpatchrepo.info/topic/10828/error-at-start-after-having-to-change-computersor..... https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/208001/cant-compile-image-after-upgrading-to-os-x-yosemite
David.
Ps..... on the lack of midi issue...... what does your pd midi settings window look like?
Could you screenshot it and upload? -
Sure
It automatically gets "NanoKontrol2" as the 2 inputs, although I only have 1 midi controller plugged, no other port is used at the moment. So I normally change the input2 to "none". Then "Apply" and "OK" (then the window stays "freezed" open, cannot close it, but normally this is not a problem and I just ignore it)
I followed your link and its instructions to download Quartz, now the library loading problem is solved, thanks a lot!

@hybridoa Window not closing will mean it has not hooked properly to the driver.
You could try linking Pd to the Mac Midi (can't remember the name... but maybe IAC driver?) and joining the Nano up in it's control panel.Have you got the Korg editor?........ https://www.korg.com/us/support/download/software/0/159/1355/
Is the Nano new or second hand? Has someone flashed it for a particular purpose...... so the sliders and buttons are no longer sending control messages?David.

Hi David,
No worries, I am trying it as you say. It might work,I hope!
Thank you so much

Hi again,
I was not able to link up IAC Bus driver to NanoKontrol2 (NK2) properly from the Audio MIDI Setup on my Mac. However I found a rather cool solution using TouchOSC https://hexler.net/products/touchosc for the moment I replicated my NK2 and operating from my smartphone Android it communicates perfectectly.
-
@hybridoa Yes, TouchOsc is superb..... and combined with Pd a very powerful tool.
I use it for a complete in ear monitoring system, and to launch backing tracks and videos for concerts.
No cables on stage at all, and laptops right next to projectors.
David.
