I just started using pd today and I'm a bit confused about the externals. I'm trying to make a simple convolver to use as a cab sim, and the easiest way I imagine doing that is with the FIR~ object. However I can't create the FIR~ object, so I went to check where I think it should be installed (/usr/lib/pd/extra/iemlib/) and there is no FIR~.pd file. There is however a FIR~-help.pd file (with a broken FIR~ object inside).

I tried reinstalling puredata, and iemlib, but nothing changes.

So, am I correct in thinking there should be a FIR~.pd file in /usr/lib/pd/extra/iemlib/? If so, where can I download this file?

@lxschwalb No. But there should be a FIR.dll or FIR.darwin or something like that.
iemlib is a directory that doesn't declare itself. You can either add iemlib to your "Menu File (or Edit) Preferences Startup" or declare the library within your patch, but the method for declaring in the patch changes across versions of Pd (see the [declare] object).
You might find you need to set the path to the iemlib folder in "Menu File (or Edit) Preferences Path" as well.

I have a new Windows10 box so i am going to be going through the extended lib family and bringing everything i can current for Windows10 as well
