I'm wondering if I have found a bug or if I'm just not understanding the help file for mp3amp~ for playing a stream on an Icecast2 server. Right now I'm sending an argument as a message [connect audio.wavefarm.org weatherwarlock.mp3 8000<

What ends up happening is that if DSP is turned off, it will connect fine but the second that I turn DSP on, Puredata crashes. I've tried it with Pd 0.5.0 on OSX El Capitan 11.6 and PurrData on the same machine. I know that sometimes libraries aren't really kept up for OSX so I tried to run the same patch on Raspbian Linux raspberrypi 4.14.50-v7+ #1122 and I have the exact same problem. Have I discovered a bug? Thanks.

@jenkutler I think you are running a 64-bit Pd.
[mp3amp~] is quite old, so unless you did get a 64bit version through Deken you could try compiling the library for your system from the source tarball here........ https://puredata.info/downloads/unauthorized

Glancing at the code I see sevy copy/pasted a few non-public header files from the lame mp3 library. It appears that those libraries haven't really changed their structure but I'm not absolutely sure.

Also, I see one piece of the copy-pasta (interface.h) has some duct-tape that ends up recursively calling itself. Legal, but weird.

So your crasher could have to do with running as a 64-bit binary, the fingerpainting dependency copy/pasta, or something else entirely.

I'm actually not able to instantiate it on my Chromebook because it can't find any of the symbols from the header copy/pasta. But I see those symbols in the lame library guts so I'll try static linking later and see what happens.
