The audio was created with Pure Data. The trumpet, piano, vibraphone , bass and percussion are all synthesized. The finger snap is band-pass filtered noise. The trumpet is an FM sound (1:1 ratio) but vcf~ filtered around the 7th harmonic.
This improvises on modes of the major scale, the whole-tone scale , the diminished scale and the pentatonic scale.
I recreated a few classic sci-fi sound fx. There are some fx that are new though.
