Hi all,

I'm trying to run different instances of my main patch using the [pd~] object using 2 different sample rates.

Main patch runs at 48khz:
1st) [pd~ -ninsig 1 -noutsig 1 -sr 48000]
2nd) [pd~ -ninsig 1 -noutsig 1 -sr 12000] ---> this runs at 48 kHz

Unfortunately the sample rate of the main patch that contains the 2 [pd~] objects as shown above affect the sample rate of the sub instances.

So if my main patch containing the 2 [pd~] is running at 48kHz the 2 sub instances run at 48kHz overriding the one set to work at 12kHz and vice versa if the main patch runs at 12kHz then the sub instance that is set to run at 48kHz runs at 12kHz.

Main patch runs at 48khz:

do you have any idea how I can get the 2 instances to run at different samplerate~ ?

@Luigi The sub-process is clock slaved to the main process, so I would have thought that the -sr command would up/downsample........ ?
But it seems it can only do it once, and cannot upsample.
If it were a sub-patch you could downsample with [block~] inside, and the [inlet~] and [outlet~] would take care of re-blocking.
But [pd~] doesn't complain for the [adc~] and the [dac~] if you downsample inside it using [block~ 64 1 0.25] .......... as you are keeping the block size the same.
I have not tested to see if that does what you want, but it should.

Thank you for getting back!

I tried what you have suggested and it kind of does what you suggested but I can hear a lot of digital distortion. Do you think that is normal?
Maybe I should filter the output of that subprocess to the Nyquist frequency based on how downsampled the sub process is...

@Luigi I see.
There seems to be no way because of the [dac~] and [adc~] objects.
I think it is an issue of timing....... so I doubt that filtering will have any effect.
And it is very strange that the -sr switch does show up as a change in the sub-process media settings....... but there is no actual change.

Does it work as expected if you use the -sr switch first before -ninsig etc...... as in the help patch?
It should be a daft question, but you never know.

If not, as it is a completely separate process, the only way I can think of is to use [block~ 64 1 0.25] and stream the signal between the processes using the "net" library objects [udpsend~] and [udpreceive~]
They are definitely available for 64-bit Pd on the RPI through Deken and work well, even over Wi-Fi.......... so they should work perfectly for the same host.
For other OS's I don't know.......
They were also included in the extended version of the "mrpeach" library, and might have made it over to a Deken installable version for your system.
