I put 10.5 on my mac a few weeks ago, and since then Pd-extended's behavior has been very erratic.

When I save patches, Pd crashes.
When I load the documentation browser, Pd crashes.
I really can't do anything.

Has anyone seen similar behavior? The new 40.3-extended nightly builds are not any better.

It does not always crash upon first save, but most subsequent saves cause a crash.

I've attached my osx crashlog as txt. Any insights?

You can use the ppc version in rosetta and it seems to work fine, apart from not being able to use Jack as an audio driver (as I found out). Obviously it will consume more cpu aswell but all is not lost for the meantime.

I think the team is onto this and has found a fix so its only a matter of time before it finds its way out

there are posts about this on the mailing list. the bugs seem to be with osx itself and not pd. in general, don't upgrade your os until someone else waves a flag saying pd works ok. for the moment, can you go back to 10.4?? or else what boonier said.

Ah, okay. Can you tell me how I can get subscribed to the mailing list, or where I can look to get this info?

OSX has been super buggy since 10.4.9, I could revert back, but I'll just have other bugs to contend with.

I'd say stick with Leopard as the fix is just round the corner i reckon....well thats what i'm gonna do but most of the stuff i'm working on atm is not too PD intensive, so whatever fits your needs mate

Just slapped on 10.5.1 via software update... so far so good! I'll update this thread if the problem persists.

crap... yes, it still crashes under that condition.

after hitting help, now it crashes when I try ti save.... i guess its still no different.

According to the mailing list, theres a new autobuild which has fixed these problems.

yes, this build seems to work well on an Intel iMac I have here at work - help menu fixed & PDP/PiDiP objects working better than before too! usual complaints about codecs from the console - I need more time to look at these.

Is it...just possible that I may be able to move my working platform (which relied heavily on PDP etc) onto a Mac? wow, that would be cool

--clarification: the codecs issue is one about moving qt files made on linux to a Mac & re-saving them with VLC so that QT7.x can open them correctly - this is a workaround for the 'bad atom' error (ie. problems in the file header). More to do with libquicktime than PD I imagine.
