I have a patch in which I need to write to a table #10xx
it is within an abstraction and it is named $0-tab2
everythime I open the patch it is named somewhere random between
1005-tab2

or

1036-tab2

i need to be able to either keep this number constant or be able to read that number using a variable which will always know where that number is and adjust accordingly.

any suggestions would be MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH appreciated.

You can get the value of $0 from [$0] or [f $0] or [pack f $0].

It seems if you are writing to a table from outside the abstraction, you should use $1. $0 is a unique local variable. $1, $2, $3 can be called on easily based on the creation arguments of the abstraction.

yes. $0 will always change, and is not meant to stay constant every time.

if you make an abstraction [samplethingy] , and initialize it with a creation argument , for example [samplethingy 777] , then $1 will always be equal to 777

i got my patch to always read from $0 thanks. alot
