hi, there
i'm new to jack and couldn't get it to work on pd-extended (i did get it to work on pd vanilla though)
pd-extended simply doesn't seem to recognize jack (it only recognizes the sound card and the agregate device). pd vanilla recognizes all of them, no problem.
i'm using osX.4.10 on an intel mac book pro
thanks in advance

why do you need jack? personally i have had no end of troubles with it.
if you just want to route audio, then soundflower (free) is easy peasy,

hi, everyone!
thanks for the replies!
i'm using Pd version 0.38.4-extended-RC8 on an intel mac os 10.4.10
i tried soundflower as well, but it doesn't seem to fit my purpose, unless i have no idea how it works....
here's what i need to do: i want to plug my guitar on guitar rig (or anything else) and change process it before it goes to pd. but i need to be able to send ONLY that channel (i'm using a 1814 firewire m-audio soundcard) and i don't know how to do it with soundflower, as it only seems to route all the channels at once.... or maybe i'm mistaken?
thanks again -
firstly, download this http://at.or.at/hans/pd/installers.html
correct me if i'm wrong buit this is the best extended version to be using nowYou should be able to patch in Guitar Rig to Pd in the Jack router app. Is it standalone or a plugin? If plugin you need to host it using something like Plogue Bidule
Have you selected Media>Jack in Pd?
* one method
set up adc~ and dac~ with 4 inputs/outputs. Patch input 1 direct to output 3. In Jack patch output 3 to input 1 of guitar rig. Process it. then patch the output of guitar rig into adc~ input's 3&4 and patch those to dac~ 1&2

i've never tried, but soundflower has 2 flavours... soundflower2 and soundflower16...that's a 2 channel version and a 16channel version...maybe try soundflower16 and then make an adc object in pd to route the channel your gtr is connected to. eg [adc~ 7]

hi, there!
thanks for the replies!
i'll try all that.
guitar rig is a vst plugin but it also works as a stand alone
thank you all again -
hey!
it worked with that version of pd ( http://at.or.at/hans/pd/installers.html )
i just hope this version doesn't crack or something!
i was running a stable version of pd before (which i got from the official site) and it just wouldn't recognize jack. but this one does.
i'll also try hardoff's soundflower suggestion
again thanx everybody!
