I have recently started using PD and have created a few synths, however i am having trouble with creating a patch that would allow me to adjust the frequency/note whilst playing. I would like to be able to go up or down octaves/Semitones using toggles, sliders or knobs.

If anyone has the time to give some advice it would be much appreciated.

All oscillators in PD have an input for frequency, so you can easily set it to whatever you want, using either data or signals. The creation argument is just a starting point--if you make an object [osc~ 440] and then send it the number 880, it will effectively become [osc~ 880].

If you want to jump an octave, I would recommend the [* ] or [*~ ] objects.

[mtof] and [mtof~] convert MIDI pitch to frequency so it's easier to deal with transposition. That way you process the pitch using integers (add 1 and you go up a semitone, subtract 12 and you are an octave lower), send the result to an [mtof] and let it generate the frequency for oscillator.

I get that the ingoing note from 1 - 127 has to have +, - Octaves and semitones, but if i attach a slider to say adjust the note up a semitone or octave, it takes over the midi input. How can i add these to together without cancelling one out?
