Hi, I have been using pduino with my Arduino just fine with the analog inputs, but am having trouble trying to use my Parallax Ping))) Ultrasonic Range Finder with the digital inputs to get the range finder values into PD.

    Can anyone help? Any suggestions?

Hi, this question goes out to those of you who use PD and Ableton live.

I am trying to control an instrument in Live, Live's Sampler, from PD, and I have ctlout working just fine, in that I can control parameters of filter knobs etc. on a Live Sampler from a PureData ctlout with no problem.

I am using the IAC MIDI driver to route MIDI from PD to Live as I am on a Mac OSX machine.

My problem is that when sending noteout signals, Live is receiving the MIDI as evidenced by Live's MIDI receive indicator lighting up, but it is not making notes play in the sampler, even though I have it set to receive MIDI from that IAC bus. Like I say the ctlout has no problem controlling a filter knob, etc...

Anyone have any suggestions? I am kind of a noob to MIDI stuff and to interapplication MIDI routing.

Hi, I am having trouble with flashserver on a g5 mac with tons of ram. I have no problem with it on my MacBookPro...

I am getting this kind of message in the PD console:

flashserver: warning: flashserver blocked 5 msec
flashserver: warning: flashserver blocked 13 msec
flashserver: warning: flashserver blocked 17 msec

I get a bunch of messages like this and then PD eventually crashes. Any ideas?

Does anyone know how to make a number with a decimal point, like for example 1.32, into a whole number, such as 1 or 2?

Basically I need to be able to round up or down to the nearest whole number, but I can't figure it out... please help!

    thanks

    Hi there,

Here is a link to a video of me testing a thing - the "Synesthetic Reactor", that gathers data (mostly from photocells) into an Arduino and then sends it to PureData and GEM... another component (not shown in this video) controls a Flash animation using flashserver (got it working yay!).

    video here:

    ===========

The Synesthetic Reactor, composed mostly of two computers, two Arduinos, and two video projectors, will be at Centraltrak in Dallas, Texas, opening Saturday March 28th 2009 from 6 - 8 pm. The show will run through May 12th.

Hi, I use a MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, OSX 10.5.4, Pd-extended 0.40.3, for my main computer. I made a thing using flashserver that I use to send variables to Flash to control stuff there, that all works great!

My big problem is that I have an art show coming up, opening this Saturday March 28th, and the gallery secured two Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5s for my show, (even though I told them I probably needed intel macs). I installed the latest version of Pd-extended for PowerPC Macs on these computers, and now when I go to create the flashserver object in PureData on those computers, it seemingly creates just fine, but in the output console window of PureData I get the message:

"error: flashserver crossdomain.xml not implemented in Pd"

and the flashserver doesn't work even though the object creates. Help!!!!

Does anyone know why this problem is happening and what if anything I can do to fix it???

A fairly bare-bones test of sending data from an Arduino Duemilanove microcontroller to PureData. All visuals and sounds subject to serious tweaking in the future!

In this video I am using a light sensor hooked up to the Arduino microcontroller to gather light level data and send it to some stuff I made with PureData and GEM.

We are turning a few lights in the room on and off. The levels of light controls the size and colors of the psychedelic sphere and also some of the synthesizer sounds.

Thanks Mary Benedicto for helping turn on and off the lights for this video.

Hi! Thanks to all the nice people here who have done such great work that got me interested in PureData (and by extension Arduino) in the first place!!!!!

I finally got my Arduino and PureData/GEM communicating nicely with PDuino! Wonderful!

    Here's a video:

    Hooray!

Now on to my problem. I am using Pd version 0.40.3-extended on an Intel MacBook Pro running OSX 10.5.4.

When I open up PD this is the messages I get:

Can anyone tell me why GEM and xsample load in but all the other libraries do not?

Also, where the heck do I get the OpenSoundControl object for PD??? I'm a total noob when it comes to compiling from source code, is there an easier way?

Thanks so much for anyone's help

Thanks Hans. The Ping))) works with the Arduino in a digital pin over the serial communication just fine and can get the measurements to read out into the Arduino serial monitor window.

I will try the one you suggest since analog ins work just fine with me and pduino, thank you for the tip.

    Thank you ShankarBaba!

I only used 2 illuminating lights on each box because I am broke!!! ;)

The lights were like $15 and I didn't have enough $ to get 6 for each box (there are 6 light sensors on each box)

More versions coming in the future, these were first-generation versions

    thanks!

    thanks sunji!

Those both help quite a lot because I was sending values off some photo resistors into an Arduino, and then to PD with Pduino, and then to Flash with flashserver, and the numbers were to tell a movie clip in flash to go to and play whatever number is coming through, but because they were numbers with decimals Flash couldn't figure out which frame to play since it wasn't a whole number.

The [int] fixed that perfectly and I will try out the rounding action later when I get back home.

Everything is working great and I'm freaking out on how fun it is! Hooray Pd
