so this relates to my last post where i couldn't get Pd to run properly. I reinstalled with a previous version and now things are working... usually. But once again, if i have used a program in my session before Pd, I have a lot of trouble getting things to work. when I change out of the edit mode to run my patches, hit ctr+/ and start working, the following message prints:
audio I/O stuck... closing audio
i don't know what this means, but if this gets resolved, i think the program will finally start to play nice.

Hi. earlier this week i got Puredata. ready to build, i checked computer audio and went to media>test audio and MIDI. But when I clicked on the test tones I got no sound. Stranger yet, this somehow also kills the audio for the ENTIRE computer until i reboot. I have tried opening other audio apps, like OpenMusic, and for whatever reason, this is killing audio, too. But youtube, Winamp, and the trackers I've been using do not shut down the audio.
please help. I really want to start working with this program. thanks!

thanks for writing back. I've had this problem when I've had all of my programs closed (or so I think). But the one day I had PureData running, I actually had youtube working simultaneously because I was learning through the tutorials. I have no idea why it stopped working after that.
-what accounts for these discrepancies?
-is there a way to track where the ASIO drivers are having problems?most important
-how do i make sure (read: once and for all) that the drivers are going to the programs that they need to start doing stuff?

I've just run through those steps and it hasn't changed the problem at all. still can't hear anything. still have to restart the computer
