I'm quite new to PD but eager to learn. I'm trying to figure out how to use my kaoss pad to control variables in PD. I have the kaoss pad connected to the computer via a midi to usb cord. I have installed the midi usb driver for the kaoss pad on my computer. I went to the 'midi settings' and added something called 'usb audio device' which i assume is the kaoss pad, to the input. I went to the 'test audio and midi' under media and none of the numbers changed as i used the kaoss pad. I created a 'notein' object and connected number boxes to it without results. PD has mindblowing potential for audio and video manipulation so I would really like to interact with it using the kaoss pad. Could anyone point me in the right direction to figure this out? thanks so much!

yes i have tried the ctlin object without results, what do you mean by 'the right midi object?
