Forgive me if this is a newby question but I am new to PD.
I really need a master volume pedal to control my [output~] object.
I added a midi [ctlin] for an attached foot pedal but it is not working. It changes the slider on the output object but does not actually
affect volume. I used autoscale to get the values into the
0-1 range which seemed to work fine. The slider moved but no output change. It seemed to zero
out all output and break the [output~] object.
(I am using the output~ version which has the slider and DSP
mute included)I have tried opening up the [object~] and attaching the
[ctlin] to various inputs within the patch but am not getting
anywhere fast!Thanks for any assistance.
Is there is another object or way to approach having a midi
pedal controlling the final volume?
I would appreciate any advice!I have attached one attempt to make this work..
Thanks very much

I am working with oboe to pitch and volume controls for video. Have you had any more success with your patch? I have found it easier to work off of midi numbers with graphics and also use scale to get the numbers in the right range. I wonder if you could start with an ellipse or rect in the gem window and then affect it with your pitch and volume parameters. Maybe start with an object that is affected by your audio input. This would be the easiest I think. I will check back. I have done this in processing but not pd or I would post. It looks like GEM is not getting the correct parameters and that appears to be what needs to happen first. Best, Robbie

You are so right. It is my controller doing something odd.
I am using an X-Session to get this going while I am traveling
away from my midi pedal system. The slider is sending opposite numbers than it appears to send
on the controller itself......pretty weird for sure. PD logs it
as running 127 to 0 rather than the other way around.Everything else seems OK so I am not going to worry too much.
Thank you so much for your help with all this!I hope to have an performance Saturday using PD and Oboe and some other hopefully interesting things.
It's great to have the master volume pedal to [output~] option.
I was not going to figure that out on my own for sure !
Thanks again!

thanks so much for your help! I changed the names of the hslider send and receive symbols and now the [ctlin] affects the actual volume!
I also used the [/ 127] which is very nice- thanks for that. I have developed another odd issue however which is that the slider(and volume now) move opposite what I would expect. When the midi sends 127 the volume goes to 0 and vice versa. Is there a simple way to flip this? I think there is something basic I am not remembering perhaps.
It is excellent to have midi control over [output~] ! Very cool.

sorry I do not have any help, but I think your patch is very cool. I downloaded it and sent it to the osc and it was quite fun.
