Hello, I am brand new to puredata but I am off too a rough start. I hope there is an easy/obvious solution to this but I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.
First of all, yes I am in edit mode. I have the hand as the cursor. I make two new object "osc~ 440" and "dac~". The inputs and outputs are showing up. The problem is when I mouse over an output, the lower left black rectangle on "osc~ 440", it does not change to a circle. I cannot drag to connect the object. I've already tried reinstalling.
Additionally, I tried opening up the Audio Test in edit mode and tried deleting a connection by clicking when the cursor changes to an X, but this does not work either.
This is Pd version 0.42.5-extended-rc5.
I am running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with Gnome. Please help!

Ok, so I am am able to delete cables afterall. But as for creating them, no matter how long I wait with the cursor over the output, it never changes to an O.
I've already tried pd vanilla, same problem.
I don't know much about finding broken dependencies. I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. If anyone could help me out with that I'd appreciate it.

I've tried several versions now, all with the same result. I currently have Pd version 0.41.4-extended installed. arif, when I open an example file and try to disconnect a cable, it doesn't work either. The cursor changes to an X, but clicking just selects the cable instead of deleting it.
