I need a counter or some counting mechanism that can count up and down and change between up and down easily.
so I need something like a counter that counts from 1 to 8 and then again from 1 to 8 and that I can change with one bang so it starts counting backwards from wherever it is, so from 7 to 8 for example. and with another bang up again.
I know, stupid question again, I've even got the feeling I made something like it in the workshop i followed, but I can't seem to figure it out.
also, has anyone any idea what the two middle inlets of the counter object do? the help file seems to be missing.

question:
does anyone have experience with moving objects with pd and arduino's?
I want to move a mirror and have heard of someone doing that with pd+arduino+??, but I haven't got a clue how to start.any info would be useful.

i'm quite new to pd, so I don't know if my problem is easy or not, I've been reading up for a day now and not one bit further, so if someone could help me a little or point me in the right direction.
here's my problem:
I want pure data to read pi (3,1415.....) and give me the numbers one after the other in a number box. so first 3, then 1 ....is this possible?

yes! that pd 0.4 $-trick works!
this is great! thanks for the tip hardoff!

whats the difference with the $? I only got a basic training, so this might be a stupid question.
maybe I'll explain what I'm trying to do a bit better.
I want to set a message box with wich I can reroute a number to a receiver. there are 1271 receivers called receiver1-...-receiver1271.
the message box should be:|receiver1253 8(
the 1253 (receiver I want to sent to) coming from one number box, the 8 (number I want to reroute) from another.
there's not many numbers I want to reroute so I can do that with the select trick, but select 1 to 1271 is a pain in the ass.
I've been thinking of putting it in a list (msgfile) but that doesn't seem to send a message? I need an outlet that I can connect with a message box.
is there a way to add content to message box without it adding a space first? wouldn't fix the problem though.

how big can you make these multi-[select]? I can't change the properties so 20 seems to be max (otherwise the outlets are overlapping)
I need to [select] numbers 1 up to 1271 to bang a |add receiverx( the x being the number. any suggestions?
now I have multiple select object linked to multiple message boxes. -

I am looking for a way to determine color with just one number. so I like this line representation.
I can't just feed color objects with a number box. (doesn't work)Is there an object that transforms the line-repr-numbers to RGB-values?ok I fixed this quite simply with an abstraction. I obviously have a lot more to learn if I want to work with pd fluently.
thanks for all the help hardoff!

is this color value thing just to see how pd deals with colors?
or can you use these numbers (1-65536-...) to feed some color object? -

the idea is to put my very simple drawing on top of a beamer pointing to the ceiling (over the lens) and doing so being able to project on all 4 walls around it. the mirror should be at an angle in my drawing, but my perspective isn't all that.
maybe to start with it doesn't have to be that precise, I've got several ideas from then on, so I can work my way up.

thanks for the link.
I'll attach a sinpmle drawing of what I have in mind.
