How do I measure the real-time amplitude of a sound file (I'm using readsf~) from beginning to end, and then take a snapshot when it reaches 30 seconds and 60 seconds?
I'm not proficient in PD or audio (clearly); this is for use in an electronics project.
Help, please and thank you!

Hi,
I have a project in which I need to control some LEDs using the amplitude of a wav file. I have the Arduino side of things down, however I'm not sure how to measure the amplitude of a sound file in PD. Can anyone help with this piece? Reference to objects, etc? -

bah. I'm giving up on measuring amplitude.
I dont really know what I'm measuring now. I'm just outputting to some LEDs to get some action on them.
If anyone can look at this and help me modify it a bit I would be forever grateful. I'm looking to do the following:a) send 'HIGH' msg to Arduino pins 3, 5, at the beginning of sound playback.
send 'HIGH' msg to Arduino pin 6 at the 30 second point of sound playback.
c) send 'HIGH' msg to Arduino pin 10,11 at the 60 second point of sound playback.
d) Turn all pins 'LOW' as soon as the audio stops. Not sure how to find these markers in the sound file or without writing enormously huge numbers in milliseconds.
or maybe its 30 x 44100? Thinking out loud here.
bah.

I've got env~ outputting a very short range (about 70-80). Is there a scale object that I can set to be 0 -100?
Also, does PD support 'If' statements? -

got it!
you need to copy Arduino.pd and ArduinoHelp.pd files into the /Library/PD folder located in your home directory. Then it will appear as a valid object. -

I'm having this problem right now... installed Pduino and uploaded Standard Firmata to my Arduino, but the Arduino object in PD is invalid. Any ideas?

hey, thanks so much for the help.
what's a good reference for looking up the description and attributes of objects, messages, etc? -

after some poking around, I've discovered that mp3amp~ will allow you to receive a stream from an icecast/shoutcast server. I'm still trying to get it to work, though :/
