Hi,
I'm doing a module in PD in college and I have to do a project . The project being to create something using PD. My idea is to create something that you can interact with visually to produce/change the sound. That's a poor way of explaining it! But basically I was thinking of using GEM as the visual interactive bit, so for example using GEM I draw/open a picture of a guitar and then using the mouse in the GEM window click on the guitar to start the audio. Then pictures of effects pedals to change the sound, and a picture of an amp to alter the volume etc. Has anyone come across anything similar that they could link me to?? Or if you could offer any pointers that would be great.
The problem isn't so much the audio,( I have a few effects already) but how to interact it with GEM. I've seen with the gemmouse that you can move objects around in the GEM window as you want with the mouse, but for the moment i just want to be able to click the picture so that it opens an Audio file, then click on the picture of the effects pedal so that it manipulates the sound, and so on.
Any advice would be a big help.
Cheers,

Hi again. So i've made some nice progress, and I'm not too far away. But I have a new problem. I fixed up my patch the way I wanted it to work, and it was fine and worked no problem, so I saved it. But once I open it again it the sound never comes. I even rewrote the patch on a fresh window and it worked fine until, the same thing, I saved it and reopened it, and once again it didn't work.. no sound!
Anyone have an idea why this could be happening?
thanks

Ok I've tried mousestate but as far as i can see it's only any good to me in the PD window, but I need it to work in a GEM window.
So I think gemmouse is the only way to go. At the moment I just have it programmed so that when I place the mouse over the image in the Gem window and left click you here a simple osc~. But the problem is that you have to click and move at the same time and as soon as you move (even in the designated coordinates) without holdong down the click the osc~ stops. I want to program it so as once i click, it will launch the ocs~ and continue playing it no matter where i put the mouse until i tell it to stop, by clicking the mouse again.
Any ideas?
i would attach the patch but I don't know how!
