I am writing a PD external for the 3dConnexion SpaceNavigator. It works fine, however it crashes every once in a while. I suspect it is due to the fact that I am using pthreads inside my external?

Is there another way to do threading in an external?

If the threading is not the issue. Is there some console I can check for a segfault or anything like that (besides the main PD console)?

I am running Mac OSX 10.4.11 on a Powerbook G4

    Thanks!

So here is an update on my external. It's kind of funky. Currently, I wrote an application in C. This application uses the SpaceNavigator SDK to communicate with the device and read its data. It then pipes the data into a socket.

The SpaceNavigator external is separate from the previous program. All the external does is read the values from the socket and spits them out of the output channels.

Therefore, to use the external, you have to open up terminal and run the background app, othewise your pd object will not receive any data.

If this sounds like it could be of use to you, let me know, I can send you what I have.
