More Details

* the Mac OS X PowerPC builds are a bit out of date because the
PowerPC build machine died at the end of December. We're trying
to get it back up so we can have up-to-date Mac OS X PowerPC builds!

* the Raspbian build is barely tested, please try it and report back
so we can improve things on Raspbian.

I forgot to add: don't forget to reset your preferences, you can do that in the Preferences, there is a new "Reset to Defaults" button

When I start it I get the following messages:

memento: can't load library
pixeltango: can't load library
rradical: can't load library
toxy: can't load library
flib: can't load library
flatspace: can't load library
pidip: can't load library

and some objects like [range] and [expr] doesn't work anymore. I'm guessing this is related to the errors?

This seems to be a very good release indeed with a much improved asio implementation on windows, for which many thanks! But could some explain what the Perf Mode and Autopatch are used for?

If you've ever been performing and mistakenly hit Ctrl-W or Ctrl-Q, then you'll understand Perf Mode

I've been performing but never used ctrl-w or ctrl-q, only ctrl-f4 but then pd nicely asks if you want to close the (altered) patch. But then i don't really do live patching.

Hi! Trying to install the new version on Ubuntu studio ( 12.04 ) but the intructions on the page "how to install on linux etc..." dont seem to be working for me. When I type in the terminal:
"sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-key 9f0fe587374bbe81"
i get an error reading:

gpg: requesting key 374BBE81 from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com
gpg: keyserver timed out
gpg: keyserver receive failed: keyserver error

Using the .deb file in the ubuntu software center doesnt really help because it is the old version still ( 4.3.04 .) My guess is that this stuff just hasnt been updated yet. Any suggestions? Id really like to check out the new version it looks really spiffy.

sounds like there was a problem with the keyserver, try running that command again, maybe its working again now:

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-key 9f0fe587374bbe81

Cool it worked! Looks like a huge step forwards really looking forwards to diggin in.

Just want to bring up though that I did a quick test with my usb midi interface and pd still crashed my computer when i unplugged it while it was still active (this is actually something that I wanted to look for because I have done this several times.) It actually doesnt happen until I turn off pd after I have unplugged my interface. Just thought I would give a heads up!

Maybe i'm dreaming but i'm having the impression that the visual side of the new pd release has become a little more sluggish than before? On the other hand the audio (asio) implementation seems to have improved a lot, so that's certainly a good thing. But before I never had to pay a lot of attention of what was going on on the screen, my pc seemed to cope with it without a problem, but now i have to be more carefull with what's going on. Oh well, that's just me nagging a little bit...

yeah, so I deleted my preferences in HD>Library>Preferences,
but there is no "Library" in my home folder, and when I run
"rm ~/Library/Preferences/org.puredata.pdextended.plist"
in terminal, I get "no such file or directory"
and still my pd won't load several external libraries.

If you need to load a library that doesn't load by default, you can use [import libraryname]. You can also use [declare] or [path] if you need to add other search paths to your patch.

Coming back to topic of gui responsiveness i'm afraid. I've got a synth which i can control with the computer keyboard and the same patch which takes midi notes as input. However, when i use the midi version of the patch no single gui widget redraws itself anymore. So they're all actually working, because when i select for instance a new value in a horizontal radio, i hear the patch reacting to the value changes but the gui doesn't redraw itself. Has anyone else encountered this problem with the new pd release? This wasn't giving a problem in the previous release (0.42.5 i believe).

Yes, I had those problems with the Gui on pd-extended 0.43.1.
In fact, the gui issues when the number of elements is more than a few dozens are filling up my glass, so to speak.
Meanwhile, thanks to all that are working so hard to fix the issues.
