Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and new to PD and GEM. I'm following tutorials on youtube like this one

The issue is that whenever i upload and start a video, the video works REALLY slow, the cpu loadbang shows very high values and all the pc seems over-running and slowed down (like if it's close to a crash actually).
I'd like to know if there's a way to solve this out, maybe kinda buffer size to adjust or something else.

hello. I am also experiencing a very slow GEM. This doesn't seem like it should happen with my current spec computer. Any ideas!?

is this a [pix_film] issue or it's a more general thing? which version of gem are you using? what platform?

[pix_film] is really slow and cpu consuming on my machine too (osx 10.6.8 with gem 0.93.3) but since i don't need it much ([pix_video] works fine) i didn't even tried to see if this issue was solved in more recent versions of gem. if your gem is up to date and the problem persist you might consider to file a bug report or ask for help on gem mailing list.

yeah its pix_film for me. seems like we're in the same boat then cos im on 10.7 and its very slow. oh well. good to clarify. thanks for the reply

I am also using pix_film. According to the help file, pix_video is only for direct camera input and not for loading files into PD. How do you use it, guido?

I've been seeing a different issue. For me it plays the videos too fast (also using pix_film), so a 23.98 fps video will finish my faster than the song is expecting it to. This became a problem when I switched to the new version of Pd. Before that, the same patch had no problems.
