I'm new to this forum but I read it for a long time ago, since I try to make a pure data patch for my launchpad (but this is not so easy :p)

So, here is why I want to do:

Basicly a music box like this one

what i think i'll do: make 8 samples (8 different notes) playing in loop every 0,5 seconds. Then, just "on" or "off" any off them with my laucnhpad. Each sample will get its own line on the launchpad. Column are time divisions.

You see what I mean ?

How do you think I can make such a counter with on/off for each notes ?

I made a sequencer once that instead of running off a counter ran off "delay" from first note. So if the step between each toggle was 100ms and I selected the first, 5th, 9th and 13th steps, a bang would be sent to that "note" (I think that it was always playing so I was really sending a bang to an amp envelope) at a delay of 0ms, 400ms, 800ms, and 1200ms. It's better to name the steps 0, 1, 2, 3... of course don't start from 1.

Use toggles cause you want polyphony it seems. In other words, each toggle is connected to a spigot that lets that particular bang through to that particular pitch.

This is probably about the least efficient way to do it as all notes are playing all the time, all delay lengths are being calculated, and the interface just passes the info at the right time. Hopefully.
