Hi!

How can i create a patch that works like a simple amplifier with a variable gain dependent on the input?
The idea is that the patch saves the min and max values that were submitted to the input and multiplies the gain so the output would be normalized.

a good place to start searching for ideas is the term "dynamic range compression"

Objects to use include [env~] which outputs the average signal level in dB, [dbtorms] which converts dB to actual level, and [*~] which amplifies. [expr] may also be useful for calculating gain from signal level, and [delwrite~] and [delread~] would help compensate for the inevitable delay from [env~]

[expr] seems to be very very usefull.
And i seem to be able to simulate variables with delaylines with length 1. But i still wonder, if there is a more straightforward way to do it...

zexy also has a [limiter~] object which could be useful.
