hi, bit of a PD noob, have a band pass filter with the frequency cut off being controlled by fader/slider. I want to automate it so the slider gradually moves up and down and sweeps through the frequencies slowly.

am i right in thinking i can do this via a combination of a metro & a line object to make it ramp up and down??

& if not any chance of someone showing me how the feck i do this. im pretty sure its a simple job but i havnt got a clue tbh

i'd advice you not to modulate the slider but the frequency inlet of the filter, since the slider movements are computed in a quite slow rate, and pd's gui is vector based and changing gui elements are computational very expensive. but if you want to, you could modulate a slider with an [osc~] for example. say yor sliders range between 0 and 127, then you could do it like this:

[osc~]

[+~ 1]
|
[*~ 63] <--- not to exceed 127 (63*2)
|
[sig~]
|
[slider]

but for a linear envelope you could use the mentioned metro/line combi.
