I've been working with pd for a few months now and would like to start working on some generative music, as im starting to research markov chains and cellular automata for a college project. Does anybody have any patches they would like to share as i would be very interested in studying them?

I've tried looking for the patch on the forum as jack said that he posted on here in the comments section under the video. Does anyone have a copy of this patch or know of its whereabouts as i can't seem to locate it?

there is some solid knowledge there. There are a few posts on using markov chains. He uses various programs but max/pd are both fairly similar.

I did a little messing around and I found the [prob] object really easy to use. Just hook a few up to some drum samplers and you have a probability drummer.

I prefer using [drunk] to random. [drunk] to a quantizer or note scaler works real well. There is a lovely example patch on the blog i linked above. You create scales in tables. If I remember right there is a good guide to creating a PD quantizer over at floss manuals. You can change scale then whenever you fancy. It could be probabilistic or automated - up to you.

If you go to the browser and look down the list of libraries to the RTC library (included in PD extended) you can find lots of useful abstractions. They are easy enough to implement and use them as you see fit.
