How do you change the color of a fader but instead of the msg [ color $1 < in Rgb values. I want to do a gradual change.

You can't. If you just want to change the background, you can put a [cnv] behind it. Otherwise, the alternative is to use the graphical data structures, and even those have a pretty limited color palette to choose from.
