...and here's another, a bit more full on this time, overlaying rhythmic patterns.

Pure Data generative music radio stream up and running

nice one, i'll try to test these tonight and get them put in. i'm away from home until sunday night now but i've got my netbook on me so i'll get that set up to do everything.
i'm looking forward to getting back to writing my own patches for this again. right now i seem to be spending all my time wrangling with the backend code heh
-
tested both of the patches out and both work fine, no drop out issues when running on the server. spending the time last night making it easy to run a test server is already paying off. they're in the live patch list so will be getting played out now.
i'm really impressed with you patches btw, makes me think i have to raise my game quite a bit when i get back to making my own.
i think that my next order of business is going to be putting together a slightly better website, the current one leaves much to be desired. it would probably help when get people interested in it a bit more to have some some more info on there
-
the patch should be better now. Not really any bugs fixed but there a no more send/receive objects and no table.
The only thing that is a bit bad right now, is the frequency range i choose... On my laptop speakers i hear nothing except the hihat-noise. But i'm thinking of a solution.
If you need help for some www-stuff, maybe i can help with html/css/php... been doing that since some years now.
Anyway, here is the patch:

Nice one, I'm currently out but I'll try to get it put in tomorrow morning. if you want to send me an updated version later then I'll replace it with the new
.Some help with the website would be great, I'm actually pretty good with php and back end stuff, my biggest issue is just making a website that doesn't look crap! So if you can actually do web design then that would be awesome
-
well, yeah, i can do that but making a good design requires a good idea so i can't really tell, when i have that. Sometimes i try for days and nothing useful happens and sometimes its perfect after 30 minutes...
so maybe you'll hear from me tomorrow, maybe in 2 weeks

Hey, just had a look at the new patch and it all seems fine to me. i;m afraid that i'm probably not going to get around to putting it in tonight as i'm shattered and don't feel like wrangling with the test server just now but i should have it on there by tomorrow.
If you don't mind i might email you tomorrow with a bit of an overview of where i'm hoping the site will eventually end up. don't worry too much about a timeframe, i'm going to build a better landing page myself soon but right now the backend stuff is my more pressing concern. want to have database integration to give me better logging and some stats tracking of what's being played.
-
Another really cool from me and just some feedback which I don't know if you need... From my end it plays literally about two seconds of audio, then drops out to silence. Loads for about a minute then a couple more seconds of audio, repeat.
Safari shows the it constantly loading, with two errors. I hope this is helpful in some way. Again, really cool idea.
-
hey, cheers for the feedback, things have been a little up and down with it over the last day or two. partly because i've been messing with/updating a fair bit of the backend stuff, partly because sometimes the VPS is annoyingly slow.
Stick with me on this, it is going to be stable, usable and awesome. just have to contend with a few teething troubles atm heh
-
...and here's another one.
Snowed under at work so not patching as much as I'd like to. Feel like I need to try some new approaches...
-
haven't had a chance to look at it yet lead but will do tonight. there's no rush on any of this, i'm grateful for anything people send me to add in.
I've now got wordpress up and running on the server which will do fine as the front end for the time being. it's almost at the point where I can get back to patching heh
-
ok, website is up and not looking too bad. I've got it integrating some basic play stats and "currently playing/previously playing" info.
az, if you're still up for helping out with the webdesign then i can send you the files for the wordpress theme i'm using. currently it's functional but i;m sure it could be improved. also, your patch is now up and in the patch pool. i took the liberty of modifying it a little bit. the BPM is now randomised between 115 and 145. i'm really liking it btw, it gives a nice contrast to the more obviously abstract noisey stuff on here
lead, really enjoy this patch, it's also in the pool (currently playing as i write). i think i might have to attenuate the output volume a little bit as it seems louder than the other patches running on the radio. other than that it's running fine, no loading problems or any other issues.
edit: should probably point out the site address again. http://radio.rumblesan.com

I just checked the website, but the ogg-link didn't work, but since it's in development right now i will try again later.
In the attached pic there is a idea for a design. If you like it, i will go further in this direction. There are some more things i want to add: patch coords from the menu points and 2 outlets for current/previous. Also i thought it would be a great idea if one could use the bang on top for starting playback.

I've found that some in browser players can be a bit problematic with the ogg link. Chrome seems to have an issue with the Meta data being updated when a new patch is loaded. I've found VLC is the best player. I also tried the flash player plugin for word press but it left a bit to be desired. maybe I'll update it. On my phone again currently so I'll start the picture loading and tel you what I think in a few minutes once it's loaded heh.
-
Nice one, I really like the design. I actually also like the look of the play/bang button as a logo of sorts. The idea pf using it to launch the player is good tho it would have to be clear that's what it does and that might detract from how it looks if there's a big "listen"tag on it. I dunno, this is the sort of design stuff I struggle with so I'm happy to leave it up to you.
Short answer, I like the design, go with it
-
I just checked to see if the audio stream was running and found that it wasn't. so logged onto the server to find everything pretty screwy! i think i need to find a better way to daemonise the scipts
every day's a learning process eh? hehe

+1 looks great.
Noticed some problems with the delay lines when I was listening, so here's an update of "Tonnes".
-
...and here's another one.
Hopefully not too CPU hungry, a development of the "Kalith" idea - pretty happy with the amount of variation in the output of this one.
-
i'll update, add, commit, test and rollout these patches tonight. cheers for the continued work.
tonight i;m actually going to sit down and try to get a patch done. feel like extending my spectral delay patches somewhat so might have a go at making some interesting drone scapes.

This is really excellent! Joe Gilmore (I think?) had a generative radio stream going for a little while 5 or 6 years ago at r4nd.org that I've sorely missed since it went down. Forked on github, when I have a chance I can't wait to try putting something together to submit - thanks for doing this!
