i was wondering if anyone ever attempted synthesizing double-bass or anything close to that. i am particularly interested in this 'close to that' cause i don't like the idea of imitating 'real' instruments through synthesis.
oh, and i mean pizzicato double-bass, not bowed. bow is a phasor.

maybe a good starting point could be the Karplus-Strong algorithm; it's good for both bowed and plucked strings; the obiwannabe's body resonance will help as well to catch the wooden properties of the double bass.

Oh wow, people remember patches I made. I should read this forum more often.

My waveguide synthesis patches are somewhat elementary; I'm sure there's a lot of room for improvement if you know anything about the math involved. For example, I can't remember whether I included a scattering junction (I barely remember what a scattering junction is), and also you can apparently simplify things by making a commuted waveguide where the body response is combined into the impulse.

I'm right now hacking a bit to include a GUI version of them in the xth-sense-lib, to be used with the Xth Sense [1].
