Is anyone using Pd/Gem and Max/Jitter?

If so why use both? What are the advantages/ disadvantages do you think?

I have an older version of Max and I'm trying to decide if it's worth upgrading it. I'm currently loving what I'm doing with Pd.

This post is not intended to ruffle any feathers. I love open source and Pd. I'm more interested in functional differences.

But if you want a short answer, I say keep doing what you're doing in Pd until you don't love it anymore. Then try Max and see if it is the answer to all your problems.

Or if there's anything more specific regarding the two that you're wondering about after reading that, just ask. I haven't opened up Max in a while, but I can do some quick comparisons if needed.

Thanks Maelstorm. Very useful thread. Just the type of stuff I was looking for. I thought there would be something like this floating around, I did UTSE before posting but I couldn't find what I was looking for.

I like your advice. But yeh it's hard to know what Max can do differently without trying it out, maybe I'll get back to it eventually if I feel like I need to.
