I have just downloaded PD today and I'm a complete novice so please excuse my ignorance!

What I want to do is press 'record' on a MIDI track in Cubase and for a random sequence of notes to be generated. Does anyone know whether something has been writtne to do this?

Is this the same as generative composition?

Make a pd patch that uses 4 things

1. a metronome to get the beat
2. a random number generator between 0 and 127
3. a note event maker
4. a midi output object

connected like so

[random 127]
|
[makenote 64 120] velocity, duration

[noteout]

Yes, this is generative composition. The generator in this case is noise.
