Hello everyone,

I am extremely new to pure data so bare with me here.

I am interested in creating an interactive video piece that fires different video clips based on a users distance from the screen. I was wondering if I could get some suggestions as to which type of sensor to you use (webcam, infrared, etc...).

Also, I assume I will be using some sort of if/then statement to fire each clip. I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to show what this statement might look like. My programming skills leave a lot to be desired...

you could use a ultrasonic sensor with an arduino, or a webcam mounted on the ceiling connected to some tracking software to estimate the distance of the user to the screen.
in any case you will end up with a changing value for distance.
