Don't type xgroove~ into an object box.
Seriously without knowing more one can only guess.
What does it say before it crashes, or can't you see?
Afaik xgroove~ is a variable rate sample playback unit. You can do the same thing in a number of ways that might be more flexible and instructive.
First I would experiment with loading samples into a table. Use the -resize flag and openpanel, its really easy that way.
Use a [tabread~] or [tabplay~] to play back the sampled groove by applying a simple phasor~
Then apply various line~ type segments combined with osc~ signals to get the kind of backwards and forwards scratching effects and vibrato you can do with xgroove~
Other units to explore are vline~
