hello

i'm on a macbook and i'm having trouble with midi (noteout doesn't work. testtone.pd doesn't either). and yes, "compute audio" is on. noteout used to work, both on puredata and also max/msp (which i don't have right now).
which steps should i follow to figure where the problem is? additionally, is there a reset for os x midi settings or something?

ok i retried a solution i already tried (simplesynth) and made it in preferences > midi settings, output device as simplesynth

In order to hear ANYTHING you have to connect midi to a synth/osc~. Not hearing your MIDI notes is very different from MIDI not working.
