I'm new to Linux and to PD
I can't really use pd-extended (the one founded here http://autobuild.puredata.info/auto-build/2010-07-09/) on ubuntu 10.04 -- on a dv 5900, and on ubuntu-studio -- on a NC10: with jack (in RT or not) or without it, I have this message in PD-extended: A/D/A sync or audio stuck close audio, DAC blocked, ADC blocked...

Does anyone have this problem and/or does anyone have a solution?

Bump - same here. Is there no solution? The question has been out there for three months with no answer... c'mon folks!

In my case, if I use OSS, pd audio is fine. But I'm mainly a supercollider user... can't use SC audio and PD audio at the same time unless PD goes thru jack. If I try to choose jack as the driver... "audio stuck."

I can't imagine I'm the only 10.04 user who likes to run RT audio through jack...

I still have A/D/A sync errors but PDextended works (patches with I/O). What I did:

• realtime kernel
• jackd
• pd with startup flags: -rt -jack

I check everytime if there is a new version of PD

I still have troubles sometimes (with Pulseaudio) but generally, it works

Still not working. I tried both "pd -rt -jack" and "pd -jack" with the same result. Choosing "jack" from Media no longer presents the "audio stuck" message, but turning on "compute audio" results in silence. If I have the qjackctl connections window open, I do not see pd as a jack client (whereas, when I boot the supercollider server, it appears immediately as a client).

Obviously no sound from jack if there's no client and no connection! So, how do I get pd to hook into a jack server?

Yeah - it's all bit of a mess. I'm in a similar situation ...I'm trying to get some help on this. If anyone is successfully dealing with Pd, jack, ardour, external sound cards etc on Ubuntu could you please get in touch.

It could be encouraginig to know it is (now) working in ubuntu 10.04...

i'm newbie, PD didn't work neither with jack but i followed the steps indicated here (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuStudioPreparation), i start jack, pd with the flags -rt -jack -alsamidi and the other softwares, phasex or zynaddsubfx, etc (i can even hear sounds and videos on firefox). i connect them all with Patchage and "en avant la musique"!

maybe an important detail (maybe not, ahem): i start ubuntu 10.04 with the "linux-realtime" from https://launchpad.net/~falk-t-j/+archive/lucid/+index?start=225&batch=75

got it yeah - everything that is documented in the above link, but what finally sorted it out for me (I've got an edirol fa-101) was disabling networking prior to starting jack - with networking on it jack quits every couple of minutes - with networking off I just ran pd/jack for a couple of hours - no xruns - 8.7ms latency - haven't tried to get it lower....
