I'm building a patch that takes a text file and selects random lines to display

I've been looking for an object similar to [textedit] Max/MSP
so I can display the text with formatting (i.e. type size, font, color etc)

does anyone happen to know if there is a similar object as [textedit] for pd?
or something that would work in its place?

[entry] is the closest thing that comes to mind.

[textfile] or [msgfile] would work for loading a text file and selecting random lines, but they will not retain formatting.

If formatting is essential, and complex enough that you can't recreate it with pd's text formatting controls, you may have to approach this as you would web design (pre-HTML5): convert each line of text into an image file, then load the image files at random.

[scrolllist] in Yves Degoyon's Unauthoriized externals can accept text formatting. check it http://ydegoyon.free.fr/software.html

edit- O yeah, the [cnv] has a title which you can format as well.
