So I'm currently working through Kreidler's book, I'm @ the read array 2 example patch and there is a paragraph...

""tabread~" receives the array name as an argument. You could also set the array you want to read with the message "set [arrayname]". ""

so I made another array with a different sound in it and I am trying to redirect the [tabread~] between the two arrays. How exactly do I do this? Thanks for taking the time to help.

If you have an array called array1, then:

[set array1(
|
[tabread~]

I was about to let you know (in case you didn't already) that you can right click an object to get its helpfile, but then I discovered that for some reason there is no help file for [tabread~]. But there is one for [tabread4~], which works the same way only it uses 4-point interpolation.
