Suddenly PD outputs no audio. I've checked the audio settings in the preferences menu and the audio settings for my computer (MAC OS). When the patch is running, I can see that PD is in fact handling audio (by attaching an [env~] to an audio signal). I have audio in other applications. I have been using JACK to connect PD to Logic. Now, when I set PD to send audio to JACK, JACK does not even acknowledge that PD is running. It was all working fine just a few days ago. WTF?

You say you have other app running. Maybe when they load they steal the output - check your routing in Jack
otherwise...
Assuming you;re in Jack mode in Pd, Jack router doesn't show 'pure data' in the routing list no?
Sometimes Pd doesnt deregister itself from Jack i found - say if you have crash. The pd engime is still leftover and relaunching Pd wont fix it because the old 'engine' is blocking it. Does the output in pd say something like Jack returned error 33?

jack isn't the issue. i've closed it from the activities monitor (again mac os) and even re-installed pd-extended. still no audio from pd. all other audio is fine. dammit!

have you changed anything in the prefs in both Jack and Pd? SOmetimes I forget to check the audio dialog in pd - check you have the right # of channels in the output (they need to correspond with logic)

Whatever is wrong has to do with pure data or the os audio prefs. Pure Data will not output audio on its own, even without jack or logic running.

So regardless of Jack or anything else, Pd wont output any sound through portaudio? (normal mode)

correct

... i've fixed it. for some reason, in my port audio, the input channels was numbered at 8 instead of 2... at any rate, it works. sorry for the fuss
