Anyone in linux find that [dumpOSC[ and [sendOSC[ objects don't seem to exist, even though the library is installed (pd-extended) and oscx library does exist in /usr/lib/pd/extra?

even pure data, at startup tells me the library is loaded all other libraries load.

what can I do about it?

I have found that [sendOSC] works fine but [dumpOSC] doesn't exist too.
The strangest thing is that [prvu~] seems to bee dead on [gainvu~] at VU output. Have no idea how to solve it. My friend have the same on Mac.

If its intermittent, have you checked to make sure that nothing else is using
your chosen OSC port (often 57110)? In my experience, if PD can't listen on
your chosen port, it doesn't give you a helpful error message, it just acts
as if the object doesn't exist.

well its not intermittent, but

$ netstat -a -u -n

returns this:

Active Internet connections (servers and established)

udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:5353 0.0.0.0:*

Now though [sendOSC] will connect and a new connection will show in netstat (interestingly on a different port than the one specified in pd) and the 0.0.0.0.0 ip address looks wrong, shouldn't it be 127.0.0.* so this is a long shot but do i maybe have some kind of configuration issue?

right never mind that, I am just being silly.

the answer about the intermittent problem, found on the mailing list, was correct here. I just needed to supply a valid port number as argument, instead of continuously trying to create a [dumpOSC] object.
